Christine, fellow expat (and Southerner 🙂 living in Florence and blogger of Ciao Christy, recently started a fabulous weekly blog series titled ‘La Dolce Vita’.  ‘La Dolce Vita’ means ‘The Sweet Life’, and each week she will be posting something about her sweet life in Italy.  She has invited other bloggers to do the same, so each Monday I will be joining in the fun and posting something about my sweet life in Rome.  Thanks Christy! Â
Home from the market. . .
One of the greatest things about living in Italy is the open fruit and veggie markets. Â Being a vegetarian, having access to fresh, seasonal food is wonderful! Â I LOVE shopping at the markets, and always look forward to my shopping days during the week.Â
Beautiful red, juicy strawberries. . .
Plump, fresh olives. . .
I love having fresh produce at home to prepare our meals! Â I feel good knowing we are eating healthy.
Fresh fruit & veggies from the market make a beautiful, healthy lunch (not to mention delicious :-)!Â
You can check out Christine’s and other expats’ sweet lives in Italy, or join in the fun by sharing your own stories of la dolce vita. Â Just click the banner below:

Delicioso!!! Those strawberries look so yummy! I love buying all the fresh goodies too. I had so many stomach problems while living in the US, and do you know they disappeared after moving to Italy? My doctor attributes it to the quality of the food. Thank you for posting! Love, Christy (p.s. I put the linkie up on the site, hope that’s okay) 🙂

Calling by to visit you as another participant in La Dolce Vita. I like the fact that the fruit and vegetables here are normally just available whilst in season.

How fun! All of the produce looks so good, especially the fragoles 🙂
Why Rome? says
Thanks so much everyone!
Lindy Lou, thanks for stopping by! I agree, I like having access to seasonal produce. The quality and taste is so much better when the produce is fresh. I also enjoyed the photo slideshow you put together for this week’s posting on your blog.
Christy, YES, thank you for putting the link. I didn’t realize I needed to add it again, but will be sure to do so each week. Thanks for letting me know. 🙂 That is great your stomach problems have diminished. The quality of food is definitely better here in Italy, and I am sure that has played a large role in improving your health. I know it has for me. Better food and lots of walking (since I am no longer confined to daily travels in a car) has definitely helped me. Thanks again for starting this fun series! 🙂
Jenny, you would love the produce here. Now if I can only start a beautiful garden like yours. 😉 It would be so much better to have fresh produce from our own backyard.
