Well, it happened. I fell in love.
I fell in love with Paris.
Shhh, don’t tell Italy.
Sure Paris is the City of Love and Lights. It has the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre Musuem, wonderful gardens to relax in, baguettes and culinary delights around every corner, along with many, many other things to seduce you. Those have all been fun and great to flirt with, but dancing along the Seine won me over at first sight.
Although I haven’t done it in years, I used to ballroom dance, and I especially loved the Argentine Tango. I heard there was a place to tango down by the river, so I went to check it out. I knew I would enjoy it, but I din’t know I was going to fall in love. I completely stumbled into my element!
There were different groups spaced out along the river. A group dancing the Argentine Tango, another salsa-ing the night away, and two others swinging to the oldies.
There were people of all ages, backgrounds and skill levels dancing together and having fun. It was fantastic!
The river was flowing, boats were sailing by, Notre Dame was in the distance, and people were dancing the evening away. I swooned … over and over.
If you’re in Paris during the spring or summer months be sure to stroll down toward the river (across from the Institut du Monde Arabe) and join in the dance parties. I guarantee you’ll have a good time. And quite possibly … fall in love.
Below is a video compilation of some of the dances I watched. If you’re like me, it will make you want to put on your dancing shoes. Enjoy!
