I was fortunate to be in Paris for the finale of Le Tour de France. For those of you not familiar with the Tour de France, it is a bicycle race that has been held annually since 1903, and primarily takes place in France. The race goes on for three weeks and finishes in Paris.
I got to watch and take part in the finale festivities, and really had a blast. The afternoon began with a sponsor parade. Different sponsors of the race decorated cars and floats and had a fun time promoting their products to the crowd as they rode along. A short while after the sponsor parade, it was time for the racers to pass through on their way to the Champs-Élysées, the famous avenue in Paris, where they crossed the finish line. After the first stage of cyclists passed through, France’s aviation team put on a show with a colorful flyover.
All in all it was a great event, and I’m happy I had the chance the experience it.
I’ve included a video below so you can experience the Tour de France festivities too. You can dance along with the sponsor parade, cheer on the cyclists as they race through, watch in awe of the colorful plane flyover, and feel like you’re partying with the revelers. Enjoy!
